AFTER MONTHS OF SEARCHING FOR THE RIGHT KOMBI ( WHO AM I TO KID , ANY KOMBI IS THE RIGHT KOMBI :) ) - AND MILES AND MILES OF TRAVELLING TO INSPECT POTENTIAL PURCHASES , WE FOUND AVATOR , A LITTLE GOLDMINE FOR SALE ONLY 10 MINS FROM WHERE I LIVE - THE ELDERLY COUPLE SELLING AVATOR WERE IN POSSESION OF TWO MERTICULOUSLY MAINTAINED KOMBI'S AND AFTER CAREFUL INSPECTION , WAS SOON TO MAKE ONE OF THEM MINE ! THE LADY WHO OWNED AVATOR WAS SELLING DUE TO DIFFICULTIES DRIVING A MANUAL ( THE OTHER ONE WAS A DORMOBILE CAMPER AUTO ) AVATOR IS A 1977 BAYWINDOW THAT HAS BEEN CONVERTED INTO A CAMPER , BEEN GIVEN SOME AWESOME CAMMO APPEARANCE - AND IN THE BELLY OF THE BEAST IS . . . WAIT FOR IT . . . A HOLDEN 3.8 LITRE V6 CONVERSION - FULLY ENGINEERED ! - NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WERE RATHER IMPRESSED BY THE VEHICHLE , WHICH STILL HAD 8 MONTHS REGO , SO AFTER A QUICK EXCHANGING OF FUNDS AND A FEW SIGNATURES , I WAS THE PROUDEST NEW KOMBI OWNER IN THE WORLD :) THAT NIGHT I WASNT WASTING ANY TIME AND DECIDED TO GO CAMPING ON THE NSW COAST AND WAS GONE FOR A FEW DAYS , AVATOR NEVER ONCE SKIPPED A BEAT AND RAISED A FEW EYEBROWS ON THE HIGHWAY AS I OVERTOOK PEOPLE AND POWERED UP HILLS WITH EASE :) THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF MANY MORE CAMPING TRIPS TO COME SO IF YOU SEE ME ON THE ROAD , BE SURE TO GIVE ME A WAVE BEFORE I OVERTAKE YOU AND LEAVE YOU FOR DEAD :) HA HA . . . PEACE - JUSTIN

Our family goal this year was to buy a kombi. After many months scouring the interweb, we found this beauty. We have named her Desley in honour of my dear mother who recently passed away. So far she has made two successful beach trips. The first carrying seven people, a dog and four surfboards. The interior is a bit ratty, but I'm sure she can scrub up a treat. Standby for make-over photos in the coming months. She is the ultimate surfing accessory.

Billy and myself met before I even had a license. It saddens me to say that I had neglected him, BUT I feel now is his time to shine. I have some exciting adventures planned for his future. Billy is my first and longest love. I'll do everything in my power to never let us part.

I bought my first kombi a few years ago but the rust was an ongoing problem so I sold it and waited patiently for a good one to come up. Eventually saw a much better vehicle in a school car park. Left a note on the window to contact me if wishing to sell. As luck would have it he wanted a van not a camper and parted with it. Takes pride of place in my driveway but will one day get my sons' stored gear out of the garage so she can live inside.Slowly working away to improve her but still have a long way to go.

November 2011 we picked up our first project together- Split Screen Kombi we believe is a 67. No motor, back wheel arches cut for sand tyres, spare tyre compartment cut out probably for a longboard, rusty nose, spot and surface rust in panels, some bog, red paint totally chipped inside and out, rats nest behind petrol tank and many wasp nests, lots of bits and pieces including motor, bolts, back bumper missing. A 2012 project to have a reliable, not so perfect, usable, comfortable weekend camper by next Christmas. We'll nurture and revive this wonderful classic which we've now named Doughy.

Hello everyone, this is Gromit our '83 Westy Club Joker. We bought him in Germany and we have been having adventures in him ever since. We have toured most of Scotland in him as well as Wales,England, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. He has been taking us and our 2 dogs on many holidays or weekend adventures for several years now and we have done quite a bit of work to him over that time. We are keep campers and usually wild camp which gives us the freedom to take the dogs where we like.

Hello all Steve and I purchased our lovely 1976 orange and white Kombi camper who we have named Nemo like the fish in finding Nemo he didn't have a name and thought the name was just right for him, back in September 2011, we have just come back from our first camping trip on the East Gippsland coast of Victoria, we through ally enjoyed our journey in him he ran very well, but got a little hot at times, looking forward to our future adventures in him as we tour around aussie and meeting many more Kombi people.
